[Trustable-distros] Minimal Distro Concerns

Hey All,

So I've been digging into systemd for the purposes of getting an init
system to start ssh. I want ssh not as a runtime dependency but just as
a mechanism to get test results.

I've been working on the assumption that we'll need an init system in
order to do anything useful, and that the defacto init system at this
point is systemd.

systemd is massive, it has far too many dependencies, and is non-trivial
to configure.

This leaves me with two concerns:

 1. If we go down this path, then the project needs someone assigned who
has as good handle on how these things work, because I don't.
 2. If we're adding something as complex as systemd to the distro, then
there's really very little value in calling it a "minimal distro"
anymore; we might as well use debian, or a slightly modified
    freedesktop-sdk based distro.

We need to have a think about what the actual constraints are for this
system, because it's very hard for me to make an arbitrary decision
about stuff like this.

Regards,
Ben
